All accepted articles are protected under copyright law and all rights are held exclusively by <strong>Aletheia \u2013 Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Cient\u00edfica e Cultural<\/strong>. This includes the right to reproduce, distribute, and communicate the content to the public, in all formats, physical and digital. Authors may not reuse, redistribute, self-archive, or republish their article, or any substantial portion of it, in any form\u2014including on personal, institutional, or third-party websites\u2014without prior written permission from the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal.<\/p><p>The e-offprint provided to authors is strictly for personal, non-commercial use in the context of academic research and education. Any broader use, including commercial distribution, licensing, or digital archiving in repositories, is strictly prohibited unless explicit, written consent is obtained from the Editor-in-Chief. All uses must comply with the applicable copyright laws and international standards.\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>Important:<\/strong> The <em>Revista Portuguesa de Humanidades<\/em> does not release copyright or allow Open Access distribution by default. Authors who wish to make their articles freely available must formally adhere to the Journal\u2019s <strong>Hybrid Open Access Model<\/strong>, described below.<\/p><hr \/><h3>Hybrid Open Access Publication Option<\/h3><p>In response to the growing demand for open access to academic research, the <em>Revista Portuguesa de Humanidades<\/em>, published by <strong>Axioma \u2013 Publica\u00e7\u00f5es da Faculdade de Filosofia<\/strong>, has introduced a <strong>Hybrid Open Access<\/strong> model. This initiative aims to balance our long-standing editorial traditions with the evolving expectations of the global research community.<\/p><h4>I. Traditional and Open Access Options<\/h4><ul><li><strong>Traditional Access:<\/strong> Articles continue to be published under the standard subscription model, available via institutional platforms (e.g., JSTOR, EBSCO) or direct purchase.<\/li><li><strong>Open Access:<\/strong> Authors may elect to publish their articles Open Access by paying a one-time publication fee of <strong>\u20ac1,500<\/strong> (VAT applicable). These articles are made freely available online under the <strong>Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0)<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><h4>II. Why Choose Hybrid Open Access?<\/h4><ul><li><strong>Greater Visibility:<\/strong> Open Access significantly increases the article\u2019s exposure, access, and citation potential.<\/li><li><strong>Funder Compliance:<\/strong> Meets Open Access mandates set by funding agencies and research institutions.<\/li><li><strong>Editorial Integrity:<\/strong> All articles, regardless of access type, undergo identical double-blind peer review and editorial procedures.<\/li><li><strong>Ethical Reuse:<\/strong> Open Access articles are licensed for responsible academic sharing and attribution under CC BY 4.0.<\/li><\/ul><h4>III. How the Hybrid Model Works<\/h4><ol><li><strong>Submission:<\/strong> Authors submit manuscripts through our standard submission portal.<\/li><li><strong>Peer Review:<\/strong> All submissions are subject to rigorous double-blind peer review.<\/li><li><strong>Post-Acceptance Choice:<\/strong> Upon acceptance, authors may choose between traditional or Open Access publication.<\/li><li><strong>Publication:<\/strong> All articles are published in the same volume; Open Access articles are clearly marked and freely available online.<\/li><\/ol><h4>IV. Maintaining Academic Excellence and Reach<\/h4><ul><li>Established in 1997, the Journal upholds the highest academic standards.<\/li><li>Indexed in major international databases including <strong>SCOPUS, JSTOR, EBSCO, PhilPapers, ERIH PLUS, and The Philosopher\u2019s Index<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Global discoverability and long-term online hosting.<\/li><\/ul><p>The Hybrid Open Access option reaffirms our commitment to both scholarly excellence and accessibility. Authors retain the freedom to choose the model that best aligns with their dissemination goals and funding requirements.
